Being familiar with the two different organizations that deliver the IELTS or the International English Language Testing System examination is a must for the candidates. The IDP and British Council are the two agencies that provide the IELTs to Filipinos here in the Philippines. Filipinos need not worry with the two different agencies. The exam is just the same for both; however, there is a difference with the amount a candidate has to pay. If you are taking the IELTS under the IDP, here are some facts you need to know about the IDP.
It is in the year 1984 when IDP Philippines started providing service to students giving advice regarding the best ways to achieve education and career goals. Like what was mentioned earlier, IDP Philippines is an authorized provider of the IELTS examination here in the Philippines for more than 20 years.
Like the British Council, IDP offers IELTS Academic Module and IELTS General Training Module. IDP has a booklet available free of charge from the IDP test locations in the following cities: Mania, Bacolod, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Iloilo, Naga, and Zamboanga. The main office of the IDP in Manila is located at 2nd floor Pioneer House Makati, 108 Paseo de Roxas, Legaspi Village, Makati City. Their office is open from Mondays to Fridays at 9.30 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon and on Saturdays from 8.30 am to 3:00 pm.
If you want to register in IDP for the IELTS, be sure to fill out their application form and send it to the office together with:
• A valid national ID (passport, PRC Professional ID, SSS ID, GSIS ID)
• A photocopy of the ID you are going to present
• Two pieces of 2×2 passport-sized coloured photos
• A test fee of PhP 8,900
Applications can be submitted by walk-in applications, courier or post or their online application at https://my.ieltsessentials.com/Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2f.
When you register for the IELTS examination, be sure to know whether the school or company you are applying for requires an Academic or a General Training module. Bear in mind that candidates for the IELTS examination taking the General Training module are those who are going to study under a 6-month program or individuals planning to migrate in New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Academic Module candidates are those who are up for employment, longer course programs and professional registration.
For more information, visit IELTS review centers in your area and inquire regarding IDP requirements for the IELTS examination.
